4/6/2025 Teen rescued after falling 20 feet through grate at abandoned Ford plant

A teenager was rescued by firefighters after falling at an abandoned Ford plant building in St. Paul.

St. Paul Fire Department says it was called to 965 Mississippi River Blvd. S. just after 8 p.m. Saturday on a report the teen had fallen about 20 feet through a grate, and was "now on the basement level unable to walk."

Firefighters were able to access the basement through a ground level door and removed him from the building, with no technical rescue required.

"Patient was conscious and alert with multiple non life threatening injuries," St. Paul FD said, adding that he was taken to a local hospital.

The abandoned Ford Twin Cities Assembly Plant, part of which is in the process of being transformed into the Highland Bridge redevelopment, has been a popular location for urban explorers since it closed in 20911.
